This ad was only ran once before being pulled by the FCC. However nearly every news show would show this ad after. This is based on the very real idea that Goldwater would use nukes in Vietnam starting WWIII. This is one of the most powerful ads ever created. Even though I was not alive during the cold war,never had to practice "duck and cover", and never lived with the threat of a nuclear apocalypse. I sit in 2011 and still get goosebumps and chills down my spine every time I watch it.
Pretty malicious. But also at the same time, I think Barry Goldwater would have been a scary president, especially at that point in the Cold War.
