Just post interesting facts here. (Got the idea from the Historical Forum). The QWERTY keyboard is designed to slow you down becuase early typewriters had a jamming problem when people typed too fast. Not very interesting but you get the point.
In finland you can get hunting shotgun at age of 15, but fireworks are for only adults age of 18. In finalnd you cannot smoke if you are under 18, but if you are caught smoking/having cigarettes police cant take them away from you, nor write a check of anykind. Those are just some that came on top from my head, there is more to come...
In the US you can volunteer or get drafter to serve in the military at 18, but you can't drink alcohol until 21... Freedom FAIL
Yeah we can drink alcohol at 18 yet you can drive car at 16 (We get motorbikes though at 15) I think 18 is litle high considering alcohol culture here (2nd largest alcohol consumers per capita after Irish) and that many european countries have it at 16... Oh well... Its not a perfect world
England is 3th followed by germans and russians EDIT: Shit sorry, germans were 7th & Russians are 4th (1.Irish 2. Finns 3. Brits 4. Russians) While we are on subject: In Australia during the British empire's time rum was used as currency ='DD
I'm kinda confused about what you're talking about, but if you're saying that Thomas Edison being afraid of the dark is still interesting and fitting given that he contributed to the development of the incandescent light bulb, despite the fact that he didn’t actually invent the light bulb, then I agree. I wasn’t trying to knock your interesting fact with mine.
