So I belong to a club at school thats all about teaching leadership charecteristics and how leaders should act and what have you. Anyways the last session of this club was wednesday or June 6 and we got to teach eighth graders who were specially chosen as leaders about, well, leadership and the two teachers who had this club said that i was eloquent and well spoken beast mode. Do any of you anything like this is your high school or college? If not would you like it?
My school had FLBA, Future Business Leaders of America, but I don't think anyone actually knows what they do.
I did FBLA once. Basically you go to tournaments in dress clothes and particiapte in various events. I did the job interview and business law events, and placed in both. However, at my school FBLA was full of senior girls and I only joined because the only other guy there wanted me to go along so he'd have someone to talk to. The next year, they cleared out and so did we. Well, that's what FBLA competitions are anyways; seems like we spent most of our time fundraising. EDIT: Oh, and yes, we have something like that at KU. We have a whole building for it. It's called SILC (Student Involvement and Leadership Center) and it's there to inform people about activities and clubs on campus. Also my Arabic class was in the same building for a semester, because my teacher was involved in the Multicultural Club and they met in the same place just after our class ended.
The only club my school's ever had (that wasn't a sports team) was the chess club. Even then, that didn't last very long.
In Lawrence, where KU is, it's a very diverse environment. I think I've talked about it before, but there are a lot of international students, especially from the Middle East/North Africa and East Asia.
