Is there even a point in making these levitating cars? If so, what could they possibly provide that modern day cars can't?

I think it would be cool if they made cars look like how the did from the '20s to the '40s.

Levitating cars might be more fuel efficient, due to not touching the ground in any way. Don't know any other advantages, though.

If you're in the middle of a traffic jam just fly over all other cars!

I guess it could be potentially useful in some ways such as a more effecient use of and a more enviromentally healthy use of fuel, traffic accidents could be easier avoided and perhaps the results of them wouldn't be as bad, the terrain plays a less important role.

These are just a few things I brought up that are imaginable but I can't back them up or go further into it.

We seriously need more bullet trains in the world. It's only practical.

Personally, I'm outraged that we're letting Europe and Asia beat us in this field.

I think wheels would be the far more efficient way of moving a car, a hovercar would probably need a LOT of energy to even keep it airborne.

This, there is just something inherently awesome and classy about the style of those cars.

Not anytime soon, though, we still need a shit-load of money to repair and refurbrish our entire infrastructure across Ontario and Quebec before we even think about getting magnetically powered trains..

Interestingly enough, Maglev is a theoretical replacement for commercial air travel.

Except I don't see trains replacing planes for say going across the Atlantic or the Pacific.

Makes perfect sense to me, pay a huge sum to get the magnetic railways built, and have to only pay for electricity afterwards, and in the far future, have to pay a little money to repair and rebuild things. It also would cut down on fuel costs, and the cost of mass-producing jets or having them imported from countries which can produce them easily. However, you can't fly a magnetic train across an ocean, it's impossible to build a railway that extends around the planet.

I said "theoretical" for a reason.
