That is because I have got them all thinking on the same terms of politics as me, although less extreme. Friendships are meaningless and can be broken in an instant if need be. Having fun or loving life obviously isnt a goal of mine.

Petty? Meaningless? I wouldn't call them that. I don't know about you, but I have always got more from having a friend than finding solace in the words of those past. Friends are almost everything in this world. When I am old and whithering away, me and my wife will take comfort in the fact that we lived life to the fullest, and we have people to carry on our legacy, our hopes, and our dreams. Can a book do that? No, and they never will. Connections are forever, and politics are just temporary. I don't pray very often, as I don't think it really does much, and I bet you will just insult me for this, but I will pray for you.
