nordic archtiecture built around a hill with the palace on top of the hill, in the middle of the open plains with every direction you look at it there are mountains in the back ground.

To get to whiterun, i always float down the rivers waterfalls. It's much faster then running.

Markarth seems pretty Rivendelly to me with all the waterfalls and stuff :)
