Mexico or France Military Embarassment

The primary point of this topic is to pose this question to you: who has the more embarrassing military history, France or Mexico?

Personally I'd say Mexico, but it's a tough call to make. France has an absolutely abysmal military record despite its almost unparallelled strategic and technological advantages. Very few times, despite their weakly asserted political hegemony of Europe, did France achieve satisfying victories against its opponents. Smashed by the British in every single conflict they were involved in, in many cases by the fractured German states on its border, and eventually against its colonial populations, it's hard to find too many truly bright spots in the history of France.

But Mexico literally has none. Defeated in almost every single conflict it's participated in, and usually quite brutally, Mexico has perhaps the most pathetic military history of any major country still around in the world today.

France's most elite force is made up of foreigners.

This is tough as Mexico got steam rolled by the USA but they did beat Napoleon the III if im correct.
France has been beaten many times before as well but they did help us during our Revolution. It's a tough one honestly because they both have had many revolutions for Democracy which is sad but they have done some pretty cool things too, henstly im deadlockd on this one.

If we forget about Napoleon, the only time they actually won was at World War I, and it was a extremely close victory because they even had help from the Brittish and later the Americans, both Germany and France got devastated.

France is just abysmal in general and their military record is utter garbage. Mexico, perhaps a shit military record, but the country is okay.

Hard to say. My knowledge of Mexican military is little, though I can summarize it by saying that it's just them getting smacked around by the USA and sometimes killing each other.

France, on the other hand, wins more respect because of Napoleon and WW1.

So, France wins by a close shave.

France intervened during the Mexican Civil War in which they were the only reason the royalty held out there for so long.
Napoleon I did fairly decent.
Crimean War went well defeating the much better trained and equipped Russian army.
Won the Hundred' years war, although only AFTER a hundred years...
Thirty Years' war.
Franco-Spanish has also been pretty one-sided.


Mexico also helped during WWI and II if I'm not mistaken or at least wanted to, but they were never deployed.
Apart from that I can't think of any positive war related history for Mexico.

I have my doubts in this one, I always thought the Russians were the ones that had poor equipment and training.

Well not really if i'm correct they did defeat and wipe out the polish at some point. I could wrong though.

Problem is that the Polish weren't state of the art in military, plus they didn't exist (the state) at the Crimean War time period.

Oh sorry didn't read that part but i'm pretty sure that the russians at some point beat the shit out of the polsih.

Well, they (the Russians) plus the Prussians and Austrians destroyed Poland altogether.

France is the worst embarassment because they fucked up the Western Front of WW2

they did beat France. Thats why we have Cinco De Mayo

I'm probably a bit biased, as I love Mexico, but hate France. But you know, France and Mexico were at war before.... and Mexico won....
Can't beat that logic. But I get what you are saying, and have to say that I can't think of a war that France won. But Mexico did beat the Spanish and the French, so they got that going for them.
