Title says it all really. Basically, the guys up top at GSC weren't impressed at the progress being made, and had misgivings about releasing a niche PC exclusive. The game has been cancelled, after over two years of development, and GSC Game World, the developers of the series and other games such as the Cossacks series and Heroes of Annihilated Empires, has been closed down. Personally I think it's bullshit (the decision I mean, not the veracity of the report), the STALKER games are awesome and have sold around 5 million copies, despite getting little marketing and being unpolished. Their quality is quite remarkable considering they're made by a very small team on a ~15 month dev cycle (for the last 2 games). I really would have like to see what they could have done with more manpower than the last games, a bigger budget, plus the longer dev time they were given (about 2 and a half years). I guess it's also an end to the Xbox 360 ports of the games.
