To be honest I do not and I mean if you truly belive you can do something doesnt mean its possible. I don't think it increases grades, courage, or what have you. Anyway I want to see your views on this.

So encouraging yourself to do better things, doesnt help you do better things?

    Seems legit.

With self-confidence you need the perservence to get to where you want to be.
One with high academic achievements will not of got there just through sheer confidence - a hell of a lot of work aside from that will have had to get you there.

So I do agree it isn't JUST confidence which helps you improve, although it does of course aid, there are numerous factors which come with it.

Umm yeah let me guess you had this girl right, and then you were like OMG if I finally grow some balls and ask her out she will so say yes, after she flat out rejected you then went on an entire "Oh no it was because I had some sort of confidence and asked her out" so instead I will go into a deep dark realm of never doing it again, when really she was never interested in the first place and now you know that for sure. But instead you will continue to blame your confidence on rejection and never try.

How to convey sarcasm in writing:

    1. Create statements of emotions or opinions that are out of place in the given context. If your position seems illogical it is most likely sarcasm.
    2. Use of hyperbole or exaggerated phrasing. This is used to reveal logical flaws.
    3. Italicized, underlined or bold faced words. When you try exceptionally hard to convey a point it comes across as sarcastic.

I know it's hard to actually type "hard" or "sarcasm"... anyway sorry.

Self confidence exists because if you didn't have a belief in yourself, what would be the point in living? We would just be mindless fucks and not do anything.

Self confidence is a pile of bullshit created by the Academia as a scapegoat. Sure, if your fucking depressed and want to kill yourself your not as productive as someone who thinks that work is the same as banging 50 Victoria Secrets Models. But even still, self confidence and productivity are only loosely tied together when your not at extremes.

If you think you are gonna fail on a test and think you are an idiot who is gonna get nowhere in life, then you most likely wont try hard to be successful. If you believe you can do great on that test and if you believe you can become successful and smart, then you will try harder. Having self-confidence is very important.
Or it could be that you seemed to her like you were expecting to get rejected and seemed afraid of her. (not saying you did just saying that could be a reason for some people)
