It seems that, when things get out of hand, our Modship really can't deal with "problems". As in arguements and other disputes that become hostile. I would prepose a sort of committee to deal with it because the modship is not able to focus it's lenses.

    As a rough outline,
    There would be 3 members.
1 would be appointed from the modship.
1 would be appointed by Stalin(or he would decide who he wanted to appoint for him)
1 would be decided by the Tribunes(or elected directly by the people, idk yet)

These would act as dispute solvers and would personally solve the arguments on the forums. Rather than simply sweeping the issue under the carpet.

Before someone shouts extremity, this is incredibly unpartisanded. In fact I'm amazed that I wrote this. It's more of a pre-emotive compromise to get my point noticed.

Kara, why do you keep coming up with these ideas. Just because somebody gets mad at the mods for some reason, it doesn't mean we have to change to a system that's too complicated and is even worse then our current system.

Situation Calming Committee? That sounds like something out of a Monty Python sketch.

lol so true. Also doubt it would help much, arguments on the interwebs are really hard to "stop".

It's not "changing to a new system". It's a 3 person committee that I specifically cut down to decrease beurocracy.

I don't think you actually read the idea.

At the very least it will get the fights out of the public and will stop them from growing into infractions.

    @Big J, it does. I can't think of a better name though.

Wait, how is this REDUCING bureaucracy? Because this seems to be doing the exact opposite.

Kara do you just want one of your ideas to be apart of the website?

No, I reduced the amount of beurocracy this would add by trimming it down and making it as simple as possible.

Because things went PERFECTLY with the European Imperialism Thread, and even better with the Libya Superthread, and then great with the Garbage and Ranting about Nothing Thread.

There's been one calamety after another and all our modship does is lock the thread and hope the problem goes away, but it doesn't. It just comes back and bites them harder for trying to keep it down. By having this "Committee" we could isolate the problem in a private thread and keep it away from the public. As well as simply calm everyone down before someone does something they'll regret.

This is actually useless, because I think our mods do a fine job, plus this actually adds to the amount of bureaucracy in the forums.

What exactly would they do, though? How does one solve a dispute, on the internet, without just locking threads and deleting posts?

Your ADDING an entirely new section of "government" to the forums. You can't say your trimming bureaucracy when your plan involves creating a, previously non-existent, committee. What exactly ARE you trimming down with this? Stop saying bureaucracy, because that doesn't explain anything

This, they would need to be someone like god to solve a dispute without lockings and warnings.

Why is everybody still making a big deal about forum government? We only have more than 4000 users, and only less than 100 are active.

Sounds like a sort of Tribune thing. But honestly they do a pretty good job at letting situations blow themselves out.

Again, I'm not expecting them to snap their fingers and fix everything. However, they can do things like,
    1) Put the arguement on a private section of the forums.
    2) Calm down both sides
    3) Determine the root cause

and other such things. I'm sure they'll think of something. And you can't solve a dispute by locking threads. That simply post-pones it from getting even worse.

You didn't read my post. It was originally a lot more beurocratic and I've specificly choped off parts of the concept to reduce the beurocracy it will add.

No they don't. In fact the mods just piss around and even partake in the arguements sometimes. Ultimatly it just comounds until we have a massive fight to end all fights and someone usually gets banned. Usually the person who's not controlling a site position.

So you want a committee that can tell you what you can and can't say?
