Taking part away from my introduction post, allow me to set something up to allow it to be destroyed.

America was built on the idea of capitalism, where the market takes the reigns. That was how the colonies were essentially funded, no? Triangular Trade and what have you. Selling cotton, tobacco, sugar... It doesn't matter.

This market was purely an American market following the American Revolution. Any money made in the new nation was for the new nation itself. Simple idea.

Why isn't it like that today?

Well, for a bit of insight, start with this.

You decided it would be wise to post a thirty minute video and not give us any sort of description about what they say.

Its like Russian roulette except with head asplosions. :D

That is a good point and I suppose what I posted was not enough to make it clear what it is.

Ladies and gentlemen, this video contains conspiracies, banks, movie references, explosions, and historic quotes!

Hows that? Still no? Alright, one more time.

The video is essentially detailing what banks are and where most money goes. Its a fun little animation to watch, I assure you, and the purpose is to open your eyes to what the Federal Reserve really is.

    Better?

    ...that worked in WWI, yes?

The House of Rothschild is private, by all means, having branches of their family all over Western Europe during the early 1800's (not saying they don't still have branches today). After speaking to an Australian friend about socialism I am willing to believe that we pay -more- taxes than a socialist state due to what taxes apply and where. We have taxes on general goods, we have taxes on cigarettes, we have all these little taxes that it piles up and end up costing us more than a socialist state.

Capitalism in the wrong hands, so to say.

The state(the modern state, not the state in itself, the state itself was made to protect the most powerful of the upper class of the time, slave owners, land lords, etc) and banking structure was made by the biggest capitalists to protect there interests. It was made to protect capitalist profit. It as just as capitalist as lazzie-faire capitalism. It is neoliberal capitalist.

Socialism is common ownership of the means of production by the people/workers, how do we live in that?

This libertarian screaming of "its not real capitalism" is nonsense.

Ron Paul has been campaigning for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if his cronies made this stuff in 2010.
