So, I noticed when I tried to download TF2 a coupl'a months back, download rates were at about 20-30 Kb/s max. I figured it was just a temporary thing though, so I didn't fret about it too much.
However, I just bought FO:NV, and I noticed it too was downloading at about the same speed. So I checked steam settings, and sure enough, some of my information was incorrect. So I changed it, restarted steam, and nothing happened. It was still downloading at the same low speed.

Does anybody know what could be going wrong?

Edit: I think I have fixed it, by switching the download server to Los Angeles. ( :l )

Yeah, not only does Australia get shafted when we have to pay up to 80% more on steam for DIGITAL DOWNLOADS, our download speeds are incredibly low, no matter how good our actual connections are. I can downloaded at 3500 Kbps, why do I struggle to get 70 on Australian download servers. Personally, US - San Jose was fastest for me, but I still cant reach 400. Whatever works for you though.

If you want an idea of how bad it is, at one point, our equivalent of GameStop was selling MW3 for $118 AUD, at a time when 1 AUD was buying $1.10 USD. Converted, that's like an American paying $130 for MW2.5. They say all this shit about distribution costs, but digital downloads on steam don't have this problem, yet MW3 was $99 on steam here. Add to that we STILL don't have an R18+ rating for games (thought we should have one soon) so stuff like Left 4 Dead 2 and Mortal Kombat are banned here.

Sorry about going off topic, just had to rant. Third world problems...
