The People’s Assembly is the method in which the people can impact the direction of the forums by electing tribunes, voting on tribune measures, and debating any issues brought up by the community.

Description of the Tribune of the Plebs Position:

The Tribunes have the power to take proposed rules and legislation by the Senate to the People’s Assembly for a vote. If the people vote against the new legislation it can be voted by the Tribunes.

Example: Senator Pedro introduces a rule increase the restrictions on hate speech in the forums. Tribune Ronald Raygun believes this motion to not be in favour of the people, he can then take the motion to the people’s assembly for a vote. Should the majority of the assembly vote against the new rule, he now as the power to veto it.

The Tribunes have to power to introduce new rules and legislation to the Senate, and repeal old ones.

Example: Tribune JayJayGT believes the no double posting rule is not in favour to the people, and believes it should be repealed. He can introduce the motion to the Senate to be voted on by the Senators. If the majority of the Senators disagree with the motion, it can be vetoed by the Senate.

    Nominating Tribunes:

In order to run for election a tribune must have the support of at least 4 other forum members. A person can nominate themselves, or another forum member can nominate them.

The nomination period will happen immediately after the tribunes’ term ends, and will last between 24-48 hours.

A person a person who has been banned can not run for Tribune.

    Tribune Elections:

Once the nominating period has ended and the candidates for tribune have been chosen, they will have 24 to campaign for their position. They can make speeches in the assembly and place advertisements in their signature.

All campaigning must be open and legal. Tribunes are not allowed to contact other members privately demanding their vote or allegiance. Any member found of doing this will be disqualified and banned for a week.

A tribune can not use monetary exchanges to gain votes.

Once the Campaign Period has ended the elections are opened up. The elections will last 24 hours as well, and during this period tribunes can still campaign.

A tribunes term is 2 months, once the two months are over the process begins again at the nomination period.

    Tribune Restrictions:

A tribune will have the same power as mods for the duration of their term. Tribunes are allowed to make rule changes and reformations public. They may not, however, make public appeals for rule breakers to the staff. These issues are between the person in question and the staff member are not the business of the forums. Any tribune doing this will loss their title and be banned from the forums for a week.
