My school district just took this pledge for me saying I cannot use the word retarded.

Still, I don't see why an intelligent human beeing should use "retarded" in a way, to curse at somebody. We live in the 21st century, I thought eh grew out of this stupid stuff. It's like calling something "gay" to give it a negative touch. Stupid aswell.
If you need to be censored to not use this words in this way, I strongly recommend to use your brain more often!

So just don't say it for like 2 months. They'll forget about it and you can say it as much as you'd like later. I find that as long as you aren't the first person to get in trouble for some new rule you can usually get away with it. My guess is that after a few busts and realizing it was a stupid idea they'll stop.

If you're wondering how these sorts of things get passed in school districts it's because everyone running them doesn't like to tread on the toes of their colleagues. So when one makes an idea they'll all agree with it and pass it through. I mean, assuming it isn't too batshit crazy. And not to mention a lot of the ideas are things like this. What are you supposed to say in response to this? Are you defending objectifying and degrading the mentally handicapped?
