Ok guys, would you rather pay less and decide who gets tiped based on how well they've done, or pay more and not get to decide?
If, hypothetically, everyone was tipped what would you base it on. How well they work, how hard the job is, or its importance to society?
A mix of all three, primarily the first two. However it would require all three to come together. If your job is eatting pizzas I'm not going to tip you no matter how well you do it or how important it is. If your job is stopping a Nuclear War, I'm nto going to tip you if you suck at it.
How would you define good work, or hard work, or importance? i mean I can do a good job of sitting or I can do an alright job of Calculus. Physically difficult or emotionally? There are jobs that you won't break a sweat but are not easy.
For instance, being the President is very important, pretty damn hard, and if your doing a good job at it, you would get a large Tip. But if you were a Customs official, you have a pretty easy, only mildly important job, and most of the time you aren't doing it very well. So small to no tip.
A customs official may dissagree, but I still just think it be too complicated. For example farmers. They do a hard and important job, but if they lose a criop did they do a bad job.
This tipping everybody idea is fucking dumb. Why the fuck would I tip you even if you worked a hard job? If your job doesn't involve a service and an interaction with me then a tip isn't warranted. Tipping only exists in the service industry and, except for waiting, doesn't even really matter. It's only a big thing in waiting because that's their main source of income.
If it was weather based, no. But I think you have to take into account most American farming is big Agro-Bussinesses. They'll pay the farmers either way because if there's a drought in Colorado things are going great in Nebraska and either way they'll make their money. But would companies tip their own workers? I don't know who tips the man in the cubicle.
i don't know what's different about america but australia doesn't have a tipping policy or anything, but over here waiters can get paid as much as $15AUS an hour
My family has tipped once in my whole life and that was actually to the restaurant itself, we gave 20Sek because the curry we got was really good and stuff.
USA USA USA...........need, need, need,.......................................... money , money money
My dad worked in the serving business about 18 years back. He says that they were paid pretty little and some people would make your life a living hell. that's why he always gives 20% tip and cleans up the table for them. I guess you have to work in the business to know what it's like.
whats tipping like in china? and speaking of which what do they call chinese food in china? :O
