What do you actually think of this video? I found it to be less a little bit frightening.

Note: Please don't call me a paranoid tin-foiled hat maniac or something that is ridiculous like that. Just give me your opinions on the video, what do you think?

There won't be a WW3. Ever. The UN and NATO make sure of that.

Even if it was global, a short conflict wouldn't qualify as WW3. WW3 would either have to be a tedious war of attrition, or involve weapons of mass destruction. Neither seems likely.

it would have to involve s a major build-up from China and Russia that would be so painstakingly obvious it wouldn't even get off the ground

Russia would never side with China in a proposed conflict. They might not be all warm and fuzzy with NATO, but Putin isn't stupid. They can sell oil to others, and count on the West to fill the industrial gap.

A war with China would take a long ass time, but NATO would eventually win, no question. They have a large enough population base and army that they could hold their ground for a long time, but not indefinitely.

It's the same reason the Cold War never happened. It's in no one's intrestest to end the World and wipe themselves out. Sure, if China, Iran, Russia, etc. were ever in a position to, I'm sure they'd love to destroy America. But they're not. And vice-versa for America. This will continue forever most likely.

Why the hell would China or Russia want to wipe out America? The US is China's biggest customer, and most of their economy supported by them. Russia as well, plenty of business there.

I know we love to recreate the Cold War in the modern day, but the fact of the matter is that it's in almost everyone's best interests that America stays strong economically and internationally.

    Seconded.
    Unfortunate but true.

And NATO would have a big problems fighting China. While China would take the majority of the casulties of a war between the two:
    1. The majority of NATO would need a REAL GOOD REASON to even go to war in the first place.
    2. NATO countries don't always agree. Remember that France objected to the U.S. going into the Middle East.
    3. The majority of NATO does nothing most of the time. Sure, they provide launch points for U.S. operations and supplies and monetary support, but for the most part, major military actions are non-existent. I don't see hundreds of thousands of British or French or Russians [forgot if the Russians are in NATO] in the Middle East. A war versus China would mainly be the U.S.
    4. Wars of attrition never run well for the aggressor. Ever. The U.S. population would already be going "Oh ****, Oh ****!" to start with. Once the casulty numbers start rolling in, no matter the ratio, the American support will drop like a stone. In the first 6 months, they could easily see more deaths than in the entire decade-long war in the Middle East. They would need a powerful reason to continue fighting once that happens and the "For liberty and democracy!" stuff might not fly. The same goes for all the NATO countries.
    5. Then there is all that diplomacy and economic stuff to consider.

In short, for the Chinese, it is a matter of surviving, not winning. The longer the war lasts, the less and less likely the foreign populations will support the war.

And as unfortunate as it is, I'm with Matt on the buildup thing.
    New small arms? Yeah.
    Anti-carrier missles? Sure.
But a buildup on that scale? Hmm... there's a problem.
Plus the Chinese have actually been shrinking their military personnel numbers even though the funding is going up. They have to be discreate about it.

I truly believe that todays society can not possibly continue to function as it is doing so and expect to survive another two hundred years. We do not have in an infinite amount of resources on our planet. Even if we find alternative fuel resources, we will still need oil, wood, stone etc etc. What happens when we start to see a true crisis. China are already buying up huge amounts of resources. I can only see trouble in the future.

The 'Chinese Woman's Army' alone is 3 times larger than the whole US Military. Remember that they could probably conscript near 100 million people, and that being a dictatorship, they can very suddenly nationalize all industry. China is a very Nationalistic country, and combined with the fact that they already work 18 hour days, for cents per hour.

Then you have the other SCP allies. Russia, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, India.. Add in also the nations who are heavily opposed to the USA, and are looking for any excuse to get rid of NATO - Venezuela, Cuba, Palestine, former Soviet/Warsaw pact bloc, A whole heap of African countries, and possibly some other South-American.. NATO would be more than outnumbered, and to an enemy that has much bigger industry.

Plus, even if it was only China the US was up against, good luck to them with Occupying the area. China is a fiercely Patriotic/Nationalist and Anti-American country, with a large percentage being Communists/Socialists, and 80 million (?) being members of the party, and loyal to the government. You'd be dealing with tens of, if not hundreds of millions of 'Insurgents', in very harsh landscape. There is simply no way NATO could do that.

.. Oh, and plus, China has Nukes. And I'm sure they would be more than willing to use them, even on their own cities if they needed.

Edit: Yeah, I believe WW3 is inevitable, at least given our current path.

(Edit: Just wanted to correct myself, Nationalizing industry does not make you a dictatorship. What I meant was that China could do it with very little repercussions.)

I'm quite aware that China has a massive army. But it's quality is not nearly up to snuff, and you can only throw bodies at someone for so long before your own people give up. Both the Chinese and American people would be up in arms at the war. Also, I already went over their allies. Russia and India would not side with China, no matter what. They have no reason at all to go to war with America.

The vast majority of this post is correct, and further evidence that there will never be a WW3. There isn't enough justification for it, and everyone knows what the result would be. Messy, to say the least.

True. But remember, they may be hard workers, but they're reluctant to it and they make crap products when put under these circumstances. Mass production isn't exactly the best policy in a modern army.

India? Pakistan? They wouldn't side with China in hardly anything. In fact they activly dislike China on some things.

Places like Mongolia will make little difference in the long-run, especially since they're very unsturdy with their relationship with China.
The Former Soviet/Warsaw Pact? You mean like Poland? No, they like us. In fact, a lot of those nations are more or less neutral. Only places like Ukraine really like Russia.

Most of South America, besides Venezuala and all, like us. Especially the ones that count like Argentina and Brazil. It could matter less who controls Uruguay.
Occupy China? Only a fool would do that. Why don't you just charge, fully armored, into an army of Mongols? The key would be to choke it do death and then divide it into several different countries as it did from time to time.

Insurgency would be unbeatable. You can't oppress a billion people. Luckilly, we don't need to. We just need to incompasitate the country. Not conquer it.
Nukes don't count in theoretical, modern warfare. Otherwise we'd never be able to talk about anything.

My opinion is that China would not surrender unless every inch of it's territory was captured. As I said, the China is fiercely nationalist, and very anti American. If they did surrender to the USA, there would be civil war the following month.

Remember that if China was to Surrender, and become a US puppet, the US-Alliance would be more than unstoppable, both Economically, and Militarily. This is highly against the interests of the nations of SCP, and much of the rest of the world.

That being said, Occupying the USA is exactly like occupying China. It can't be done. The only realistic goals, in my mind, will be to forcefully occupy/take smaller members of each others alliances, and damage each others economic capabilities, as much as possible.

Why would the US want to occupy China? It bogs, mountains, deserts, and sprawling cities. Not the best terrain for fighting. The most likely scenario is that when NATO invades, China starts throwing bodies at them, and nobody likes that. The U.S. and China would have more revolts than you can imagine, and neither could handle total war.

Oh, and don't let the SCP fool you. India still despises China, and Russia is only in it for the insane oil money they make. Both would happily stay neutral. Then your left with a whole bunch of obscure countries that pose no threat to NATO.
