Given that most forum members tend to have above average informed opinions about the world I feel that its highly likely that most of us are professional students (go to university/college) I thought it would be interesting to see what the forum populace is currently studying or would like to study at university/college once they leave school, or what you wish you originally studied. I, myself, me, am in my 5th year of Engineering and Science (Chemical engineering and Chemistry majors), however this yea Im only doing science units with some fun stuff thrown in (philosophy/sociology/psychology, physics (never did in school) and completing my Chem major)
Technically a sophomore, currently enrolled at a local JUCO, but transferring to KU in the Fall. Doing General Studies courses here, where it's cheap and easy, instead of at the state university where the opposite is true. Dual majoring in international studies and political science, minoring in Arabic.
Same here. After high school I'll probably go to community college for two years and then transfer out.
Well I actually have been here for one semester. During high school I took lots of college courses, and got AP credits, so I've now got enough credits to be considered a sophomore.
Yea I did it backwards, spent 2 years at the most expensive school in the nation and then transferred to a state school... Currently in the 1st year of my masters studies in Political philosophy.
Could you guys describe your majors. Going to college soon and a description from someone who has taken the course would be helpful.
I'm going to university next summer, at least, I expect to. How it's looking so far, my exams will be pretty easy, so I should be fine. I still need to find a place to live, as the university is at the other side of the country. I'll be doing computer science there, as everything else either seemed boring or useless to me.
Never say its boring and useless, I started doing some philosophy last year as a break from engineering and sciency stuff and I have to say its some of the best classes I have done. By all means pursue your major but remember its good to diversify, thats what universities are for, not just degree machines.
I don't see how I can't find anything boring or useless. I think 90% of what I had to learn the past 6 years are things that either don't interest me, or are things I don't need to know the rest of my life. Apparently, it's general knowledge, but I really couldn't care what the impact of the industrialisation on Dutch literature was. I'll start my study next summer, and I'll see what I'll do from there.
I am in my first year of a History degree at Newman University College, Birmingham. Really enjoying it tbh
