    1.Scream(all of them)

    2.Silence of the lambs(original)

    3.Halloween

4.Nightmare on Elm Street(the first one ever made)

    5. Friday the 13th(the sequel when Jason was first introduced.)

In general I treat Horror movies like any other Genre, if the movie of that particular Genre has a good plot, motive, character development, and the setting makes sense, I consider it a good movie, however Horror movies today is just about some supernatural/normal being killing for god knows why like the Saw series.

The scream movies are a joke imo.

In all honesty I don't really like horror movies very much at all, most of them are so generic. But then there are these psychological horror masterpieces that I haven't seen, ofcourse.

I can't pull a top five list up right now, so I'll just throw up a list of a bunch that I liked in no real order.
-The Host (Korean monster movie, watch it in Korean w/ English subtitles for best effect)
    -Aliens
    -The Mist
That's all that comes to mind right now.
