Most people would describe god as a omnipotent, omniscient, being. But the problem with this is that its impossible to really know what omnipotent and omniscient really are. How could you ever know if you were all knowing or all powerful? There is always a possibility that there is more power or knowledge to be gained. So I bring you this question, Is the definitive proclamation or existence of a god impossible, and could therefore only be perceived as arrogance?
I think of God as this very bored person. As he as an eternity to live he does everything he can. Thinks that you and I would find boring he would do just to burn up time. So thongs like Soduko and crosswords god does just so he can be interested for a few minutes. Overall I think I would eventually get bored of heaven after about 1000 years or so. I also have this idea that it wouldbe extreamly crowded up there because billions theoretcly are living there and its just getting worse all the time.
Given that like half of the world was sinning enough to go to hell before the first civilizations I don't know about that.
Really? That's all your going to take away from this? There is going to be at least a billion people up in heaven even going on your logic.
A lot of people claim it's better to see God as a power (presumably the power of good) rather than an entity. The fact God can't reach us (physically) on this world probably lends some credence to that idea, assuming you're a monothiest, obviously. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff in the Bible (and the Qur'an) that says you shouldn't go making images of God. Still, power or entity, we all know that the human manifestation of god is our Glorious Leader Stalin! He even says so himself unlike say, Haile Selassie
Well I mean the bored thing can't be to hard. I mean you could talk to any person in history you wanted and do apsolutly anything you wanted. Maybe that's why he sent Jesus, for the lulz. But anyway, ya it would be pretty crowded. But there's a lot of stuff you can't explain. Like, if Heaven is supposed to be a perfect world, what if your perfect world has no God? Or what if your perfect world has a man who was sent to Hell in it? Complicated.
I definitely don't think there would be a concept of time or space in heaven, it would be like the opposite of the fourth dimension.
No but you still have to do something to keep your self happy. purpetual awesomeness could get dull after a while.
Maybe then to keep yourself happy you would make it non-purpetual awesomeness and such. I think it's like super-MineCraft + cheats.
God is an idea that aided humanity in a time when we knew almost nothing of our world, yet wanted to know. It's also an idea that gives some people comfort and meaning. I am not one of those people.
