A spider isn't a pet, it's just a horrible creature that wants to kill you and lay eggs in your brain. And some people keep them in their homes and feed them. >.> Jeez.
At least a pet fish wont horribly murder you like some other creatures on the list. <.< Well, not a normal pet fish.
When I was a kid we had two "pet" black widows. Dad found them in a U-Haul trailer he was repairing. We found out the hard way that if you don't feed them live flies often enough that they'll attack and eat each other. So, we soon had one black widow. Very cool spider, they just look evil as heck. I even took it to show and tell once. I wanted a tarantula myself but Mom drew the line at one venomous species in the house at a time. (I know tarantulas are basically harmless, but Mom was having none of that.) I currently have three cats by proxy. They belong to my roommate but they're all friendly to me so all is good. I'd have a dog but the lease specifically excludes them since the landlord is allergic. I have a sizable yard for one, but oh well...
Oh, for sure. I'm a bit surprised the school didn't raise holy hell when I brought it for show and tell. But that was long, long ago and things have changed a lot in schools since then. I'm sure now that I'd probably end up suspended or some stupid crap like that. It was neat because they're not native to my area at all. It's way too cold here for them.
