So I was thinking about this a very long time, and I couldn´t think of an answer.

What would the world be like if...

The Netherlands didn´t trade their colonies in North-America for Surinam?

The Dutch probably would have militarized it, realizing after the second war with England that wars between European powers would also include their colonies in North America, and not just the East and West Indies anymore. And so the next war with England a few years later would probably have included another battle at Manhattan, probably ending with a Dutch victory, as England's power had only diminished since the second war. Following the Glorious Revolution in England, the Dutch and English made peace, and New Netherlands probably would have grown along the Hudson and Delaware rivers, separating the British colonies of New England and Virginia. The Dutch Golden age probably would have lasted longer, but what would happen after the 17th century is completely unknowable.

I think it wouldn't make much difference. You should not forget that we only had Manhattan and a few surrounding parts, and the city we now call "New York", back then, was a little village with an estimated size comparable to Lutjebroek. Not to mention that Suriname was also piss poor. They were both pretty worthless.

It might have grown to a bigger village then it was back then, but the thing that made New York this big, was trading. And if the English wouldn't have controlled it, they would just use another village to trade.

I actually read somewhere the Dutch presence in North America was much larger than just Manhattan and the bit of land around it.

New Netherlands included the lands surounding the Hudson and Deleware rivers, and the coasts between and around them, Including most, if not all, of the modern states of Deleware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania(not most of it, but nobody owned most of it anyway), all of inhabited New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. If the Dutch had kept them, then they would have grown through trade as well. England wasn't the only nation that conducted trade you know, and the Dutch Republic had the largest trading empire in the world at the time, which included most European posessions in Asia They didn't get to capitalize on it because they traded their north American colonies for suriname, and then lost their holdings in India.

It would be pretty weird.Like in 2012 Dutch New Amsterdam would be full of canals and boats, and cyclists instead of the gigantic subway system and taxies :)

I doubt that, actually. I'm assuming the canals have something to do with the low ground level. And pretty much the entirety of the Randstad (The area between Rotterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag and Amsterdam) has plenty of taxis and a subway system.

The main reason was becousce we had a very small and outdated military, so if we wouldn't have traded those colonies we would have much larger army. And then we would have joined the war (or we would have been attacked)

No. The Netherlands would have been neutral none the less.

Also because of our (UNLIMINITED!!!!) power Belgium would still be part of the Netherlands. So the Germans would have to go through Dutch terrirory to get to France. And even if they didn't the Netherlands would also have an alliance with the French.

You wouldn't be certain if the French ever took the Netherlands as Napoleon, thus, you wouldn't be certain if we'd have gotten Belgium.

And if we would have, how do you know we'd be allied with the French? We never had an alliance with them historically, and certainly not at the time, with major isolationism, and the hate for France because of Napoleon.

I believe I read somewhere that the Netherlands actually favoured Germany more because the Netherlands were also affected by the British blockade of Germany.
