I have had some real-bad nostalgia lately. A couple of minutes ago, I finally caved in, and decided that I would make a topic here.

Wurm online is a Sandbox MMORPG in which the entire 516 Km world is defined by the players. There are no Classes, NPC's, or Premade cities. The whole game revolves around whatever you want. You can go into the forest, and chop down a tree. You can dig holes and tunnels, you can build houses, cities and ships. The entire world is terraform-able, with no restrictions. Animals exist in game, all of which you can tame, and breed. The game has, in my opinion, one of the most complex, and realistic crafting systems in any MMORPG. Making something as simple as a sword or bow can take weeks, and when you are done, you are left with a great feeling of satisfaction.

In game, you have to eat, and drink to survive. In order to fulfill your need to eat, you can farm crops, hunt or breed animals, and cook meals. This creates a real feeling of survival, especially when you are lost in the middle of a forest, with little food or water. The night is extremely dark, to a point where you cannot see anything. You will have to light fires, or carry a torch with you, if you want to stay alive. There are no maps, or minimaps. Even if you are carrying a compass, you will get lost, a lot. When you do, it is a matter of trying to get to safety before dark.

I'm not really giving the game any good justice here, so I will copy paste some stuff from the site itself.

My plan is to get a bunch of people from the NKVD in game, and start a village. Feel free to ask questions!

Sounds pretty interesting. I may check it out, though I haven't been playing any online games lately.

Awesome. Wurm is different to most MMORPG's. It's basically like a much more realistic, and complex version of Minecraft.

Cool man! Give me a yell when you complete the tutorial, I will see if I can meet you at the starting point.

Apparently they are having downtime for maintenance. :| - Everything should be back up in about half an hour though. I guess I can answer questions for you about the game in the mean time.

1 Is it difficult to get into
2 is it free 4ever or just trial
3 When we start making the nkvd village should we do it on pvp or pve? (i think PVP would be best)

I would certainly only have a free account, hopefully that isn't too limiting. I never spend money on MMOs. <.< I also don't have it to spend.

There is one completely free server and another 'Premium' server. The only difference between them is that the Premium server is PVP. There are ways to combat players on the free server, though..

My plan is that we should play the free server for a while. If enough of us are interested, and able to go premium, then we will move to the PVP server. The good thing is that when you have premium, you can travel between the servers any time you want, instantly, and for free.[/quote:2x1kxl0l]

Oh shi- I'm Sorry Joe, I accidentally edited your message. I should have checked twice.. I will unedit it now. Really sorry!

    -

But, uh.. Yes, you can play for free, forever. There are some leveling restrictions, but it would take months to reach them. You can still do anything a Premium player can do. Just not as well.

Playing on the free servers is probably a good idea. Would let everyone get involved, whether they couldn't get premium or just didn't want to.

I think this game causes accidental editing. It made me and Ler do it.

Understandable. I'm fine with the free server. Oh, and when the server does come back on, I'm going to see if I can sail my old boat around to the starting point. It can fit 6 people on it, and will make things much more convenient than having to traverse by land.

Edit: You should get an email with instructions on how to register. If you have already done what the email says, you should be fine to log in when the servers come back up.

I'm on the free server. It's name is 'Freedom'. By the way, you will have to go through a tutorial before you get to actually play. Believe me, as annoying as it can be, it is well worth going through.

Awesome to have you joining us! I'll try to get around to you guys as quickly as I can. My name ingame is the same as on the forums, if anybody needs to contact me.

Edit: Success! My old boat was exactly where I parked it! Setting sail now!
Double edit: And it is in better condition than what is was when I left it! Hurrah!
