So I was just wondering whether any of you place confidence in any of the assorted zodiacs.
None of the above. Its all nonsense.
Chinese, cuz DRAGONS man.
Why the fuck does this qualify as a philosophical question to you?
It is about as provable and disprovable as any religion.
Why wouldn't it be?
Most of these are tied to religions, which are certainly in the Philosophy section.
Chinese/Babylon, although because I find human view points of Astrology to be interesting.
Well I'm not very big into it, but I do fall into the year of the Ram in the Chinese Zodiacs and I do feel that some of the descriptions do sound like me.
Well isn't that the point of zodiacs? To have broad descriptions of people so that anyone can fit into it somehow.
So it's normal to believe the same thing happens to 1/12th of the entirety of the world population, based of on how the stars are arranged seen from Earth, or are these completely unrelated and I'm thinking of something completely different now?
Anyway, the only star that has any influence on us is the sun, the others are too far away to make any difference.
The point of it is to make predictions, and on the basis of those predictions you can prove if its true or not.
But those predictions are so vague it could always be interpreted as true if you were looking for it. "Oh, I get a financial boost this month?" Yes, it's called your salary, get over it.
This is just factually incorrect on a variety of levels.
Well, now that I think about it, you're right. I was mistaken indeed.
I kinda follow the chinese(Year of the Dog) and the roman(Gemini) Zodiacs, when I am bored. I find them interesting even though I don't put to much stock in their predictions.
Chinese and Roman.
I'm a Dog In china, and a Scorpio in Rome.
I like the Roman Zodiac though.
So it is abnormal to believe in affects that cannot be scientifically proven or disproven?
I don't believe in them and I don't see why people care about them becouse the different placements of stars and planets won't make you become happier sadder etc.
When these effects described all contradict eachother and give no evidence of their effect, I personally don't see a reason to believe anything of it. Of course, I'm not too knowledgeable on the subject, but if I'm correct the Chinese predictions are a lot more detailed than those vague, crappy stories in those magazines, making them a hell of a lot more credible. However, it's still beyond me how the positions of stars and the figures they make change anything in our daily lives. It's not as much abnormal (seeing as thoughts like these are accepted throughout the world) as it is irrational, which I'm personally not a fan of. Of course, I did make an error earlier on the stars making no difference whatsoever, seeing as they're responsible for creating life and the elements, if I remember my physics correctly.
I believe I've said somewhere else that everyone has (or should have, where that is not the case) the right to believe whatever he/she wants to. If you say gnomes built the universe out of clay and grass, be my guest. However, don't ever try and contradict a scientifically proven fact that's taken a ton of highly intelligent men years of studying to prove with something you only believe in. It completely destroys your credibility.
Fair enough. I was just pointing out that believeing in zodiacs is as ligitimate as believing in... anything really.
