X-mas tree, Santa etc. were originally pagan traditions. Modern day holiday is commercialized and "civilized" way to celabrate this.

Paganism is not one big culture, its used to describe non christian, muslim etc. back in the old days. You migth mean germanic/nordic culture

Well you see ancient culture of the Rus is not too different from nordic/germanic. Those guys praised Odin if Im right and he is god of war and thunder? Rus praised Perun who is also god of war and thunder.
