So you think a single European currency is a bad idea? I think it's a good idea, it just needs a little more refining.

You know who else supports a one world currency? The antichrist thats who. Besides that it's a terrible idea in regard to the economy. Why should what Greece does effect a place like France or Germany. Why should Americas economy be effected by all this. Fuck globalism and fuck the idea of a one world currency.

Ok now I get it. You're just part of the anti-globalization phenomena, no different from terrorists and religious extremists.

    I didn't say that, specifically.
However, what they have now clearly does not work, and I am not certain there is a way it can be made to work, and I certainly would not want to risk it.
The economies of the different countries are just too different, and for their to be one currency, the EU would need to have more powers over the Eurozone countries, which I am not certain would go down well.

I can see how their might be benefits to it, but nothing I have seen so far has convinced me of this.

The Euro can work, but first the economies of Europe need to make themselves strong by themselves. The reason the Euro fell apart is because some countries lied about their economic statistics (looking at you, Greece) when they applied to join the EU. Therefore, other countries were shouldered with their bad economy, and as we are seeing now, economies started to really fall apart. There are only like 2 really powerful economies in the EU (France and Germany). And those too economies are supposed to support a bunch of medium sized economies and quite a few very poor economies? Obviously there are problems, and right now they can't be solved until each and every economy in Europe is stabilized.

I also found this very interesting article, about how Russia will become Europe's most powerful economy by 2030. The article predicts an almost complete turnaround of the world economy. I don't know how likely that is, but certainly Russia is bound to become just as and maybe more powerful than France and Germany's economies.

Perhaps Russia should join the EU? I see no reason why they shouldn't, they're still semi-democratic and capitalist right?

Well, true. I'm not educated on the EU to much, but isn't there a system where the more powerful countries have more say in the EU government than the less powerful ones?

Well, actually perhaps I should just go read some articles and pick upon how the EU political situation works, and perhaps find a news website that will give me up to date political news on the EU :D

Good luck. Although it won't be very interesting, most laws they pass are either pathetically petty or failing to deal with economic crises.

Why does everyone dog on Germany for not doing enough? (not saying anyone did it here, just in general). I mean first of all, for a democracy to be able to get through all the bailouts and other shit they pumped into the Eurozone is extremely hard in and of itself. Yet for some reason, those damned Greeks who would have imploded without Germany already, hate Germany and think they don't do enough or do too much. The Greeks are just assholes.

Its because Germany is the only country in Europe really serious about austerity right now, and all the "liberal wackadoos" (as my dad calls them) think taxing and spending is the way to go.

I think many would wish you to add Britain to that list, certainly our current government.

It does, they don't have a strong enough economy for social spending right now, so I have to agree.
Well, yeah, I forgot about the UK :p

Of course we need austerity in Greece and other other countries that aren't doing very well, but spending is the fuel of the capitalist system.
