Official Autism as a platform for Bullying.

Recently on the forum We (the staff) have witnessed a growing trend of using Autism to insult users who either have claimed to have Autism or do not have Autism. Special needs such as these are not chosen by the people who suffer from them, much in the same way people do not choose their Race, Gender or Sexuality. Using the fact that someone has special needs or accusing people of having special needs in order to insult users or as an attempt to undermine their argument is simply not on. As a community that encourages debate arguments should stand on their own merit & not the merit of those arguing.

We can and will hand out warnings on those posts which attempt to use Special needs such as a platform to insult, undermine or bully members. You have been warned. Obviously banter between members is encouraged but know where to draw the line.

You've ruined it for everybody. I was hoping to insult people based on their disabilities, but you've foiled my plan.

Why wasn't this a rule in the first place, anyway?

Of course, We haven't updated the rules or anything, but this has been going on for a while and we've been lenient in the past. This is just a better way of dealing with the issue than waiting for people to slip up. We don't want to warn users and if we can deal with an issue without having to warn people then that's much better.

And how about using someone's alleged autism to hide behind insults they made themselves?

That is clearly also an issue. If you insult someone then you will be given a warning. If you choose to want to make excuses for your behaviour then that's fine, but at the end of the day, if you insult someone you are in violation of the rules.

I don't see why there is a need for this. It's a known fact that people with autism don't have feelings so, for all intents and purposes, it's a victimless crime.
