Well, in order to Metalbend they need to actually grab the Metal. But I was thinking of some more PG rated guns, like a firebolt gun, lightning gun, you know, stuff like that.

They would have to be a bender to control and develop that kind of power into gun.

Not true. They have that flammable/explosive stuff called Blasting Jelly, and maybe somebody in the Avatar universe is working on Direct Current.

I disagree. the blasting jelly had to be ignited Therefore the only way blasting jelly could be used in a closed barrel would be to shoot some sort of projectile like blackpowder. The only logical gun to be used in the Avatar universe would have to be the traditional Bullet shooting gun or a Fireball gun.

fucking faggot. The only way for lightning guns to exist or to be used was if the gunner was an experienced fire bender or they attached a lightning rod and a Bender fueled the Guns.

Theres no way Batteries can operate with that type of electric current let alone even be strong enough to hurt someone. If they did Somehow make this weapon it would be extremely ineffective the battery charges would alone "maybe" be powerful enough to fire one shot.

Your still going to need logic, however, for something like a lightning gun, it's excusable.
