    Yes, they were a secret service/Intelligence agency. And yeah, they were pretty good. They were ahead of the CIA, for quite a while, actually.

    Technically, yes. Belarus' intelligence agency still uses that name, though of course it's not the same thing. Russia's agency is the SVR now.

    When I think Hoover, I think of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO which was one of the worst breaches in American rights I can think of. Just one of the methods:
