Fuck. If it makes you feel better, there is a slim chance that it subsides.

    Nope, depends on the problem.
@facistpatriot not everything is solved with violence, in fact leaders throughout history have used war as a last resort(becuase war is very expensive).

Of course, I wasnt talking about ALL problems. But for example, WWI was caused because the assasination of the Archduke (yeah I know, pretty lame example :p)

well what about the american civil war, which was basically caused by social tensions. The southern economy and culture was based around slaves, while the north was more focused on industry. As the US moved west the question of slavery grew so important, that the southern states attempted to cecede.

I'm sure you can find a way to twist it, but I don't know that much about US Civil War.

The US Civil War was basically started because of what Sparticus said:
There was a little more to it then that, mostly an undertone of state vs. federal power.

True but it all leads back to the question of slavery. All the tension between federal and state governments had a basis in slavery(should the federal government be allowed to pass laws concerning slavery, limiting the power of the southern states? or should each state be able to decide for themselves?)

Well, state vs. federal goes further back than slavery as an inflammatory issue in the US. Like the debate over the national bank and national infrastructure.

I was taught that the South's economy was based around cotton and other agricultural goods which were farmed by slave labor and when election season came up the southerners knew Lincoln would most likely abolish slavery so no southern state voted for Lincoln. He still won which made the southern states feel like they had no power so they seceded from the Union. I'm not sure if this 100% true, but it's what I've learned. The Civil War isn't that intriguing to me.

Slavery was the issue that pushed it over the edge. I am not saying it as the only reason, just that it was the central cause that finally pushed us into civil war.
