Necroposting is against the rules as is spam, I use thread locking as a means of stopping it. The posters can't always get to choose what happens to a thread, especially if there is continued spam, looks like it is leading to a bunch of spam or was breaking the rules in any way. Thread locking is a means of enforcing the site rules.
