I started a William the Bastard campaign and invaded England but things went horribly wrong and he died of syphilis before Harold could be dethroned. Suffice it to say I wanted to throw my laptop at a wall
I recommend everyone to start as a Byzantian Count.... so much fun! Started again as the Count of Nikea. Now, I am Duke of Nikea and Turnovu, and my Nephew will inherit the Empire from the wretched hands of his Doukas mother. Take that you scums! xD
I'm tempted to start as King of Scotland. With England under attack from Norway and Normandy, it might be an opportunity to take territory, with the only other threats coming from the Lord of the Isles and Norway in the Shetland and Orkney Islands.
thing i dont like about it, is that the Empire starts with low Crown Authority and most Countys have Gavelkind Succession. It allows you to fight the other vassals if you have a cassus belli, but after your monarch dies, your demesne will get divided. Good thing is: you get claims on your brothers, so you can reunite your demesne.... But I'm too lazy for this shit xD
I started as Duke of holland, and that was fun, In the multiplayer I will be playing as Duke of athens to reform greece
I'm not sure whether to buy this. I bought Darkest Hour but found it to not be much fun at all. I like Rome Total War, and I would've liked E:TW if it wasn't buggy as fuck, but would I like this? Please tell me so I don't have to make a decision for myself. Thnx.
It's much more similar to HoI than any TW game. Like all Paradox games it has a steep learning curve but is very deep and complex.
its also very fun and entertaining, think of it as more of a interactive storybook then a HARDCORE STRATEGY GAME!!
So it has depth, but if you don't want to concentrate on minutiae you can? The vassal system looks good for those who don't like to worry about building armies. Another problem I had with Darkest Hour was that I didn't feel connected to the game. It didn't feel like I was actually leading a country in WW2. Does CKII immerse players well?
Absolutely, you feel a lot more invested in the game because of the greater focus on the human element.
