I don't support this law, for it is the man/woman who chooses to cover up their face, I personally think that this new law is bigotry from the French government.

Also Stalin, that is a good deal :)

So the French revolution, then. On an unrelated note, Germany needs to have a fake invasion of France through Belgium, to see if they can figure it out this time.

My sister got cut outside in Ramadan for not wearing a hijab.

I don't think many realize that wearing the hijab is not by choice, it is by force. Yes! Muslim women may be free in the west, but in the east in many countries they simply are not. And if you think that this can't easily split into Western circles you are wrong. France has the right to protect its citizens regardless of what "ethnicity" they may be. You may think it's an odd thing to say since it's not really protecting women in this case and forcing them to get rid of the veil, but you'd be surprised how many women don't like the veil yet are forced to wear it. And although the French will never admit to that being the reason, fact is I am certain they do believe that's some of the reason why they felt the need to abolish it.

I guess we can also discuss France's issue with Maghrebians in the south who continually increase crime rate year after year in places like Marseilles but I'm sure this is another "cultural" thing we can overlook.

Also, Che, for as liberal as you are when it comes to the former Soviets way of assimilating everyone I don't see you decrying them for their narrow minded ideologies. But hell, how about now, shouldn't Russia grant Chechnya freedom to practice as they wish and break free from Russia? Or is it only wrong when the West regulates what can and can't be done?

They'll never see it coming. They'll end up thinking Germany will march directly into their super big fortress and ignore the very open path through Belgium.

Atheism FTW. I think France is slowly succumbing to an immigration problem with Muslim Arabs, and this is sort of a passive aggressive stab at slowing the immigration. But, I'm not from France, and maybe I'm completely wrong...

There are two-thousand women affected by this law in France. France's goal is radical secularism and this seems to be a step that needs to be taken to achieve that goal.

Why do you have to make a law that only affects 2000 woman it's not exactly doing to do anything useful.

How can people think this is the right thing. Forcing someone to wear certain things is against their rights surely and i use to think france was a liberal country.

The law deals with public safety they can still wear the hijab if they want. The veil has no purpose outside desert climates as it keeps people cool. France made polygamy illegal does that mean they are persecuting people who wish to practice it? I support the law.

I don't know if you saw my Podcast with Vadim where we talked about MC in Russia, but basically he said that Russia makes 0 effort to try and assimilate people's culture and in Chechnya they are allowed to practice among the most fundamentalist forms of Islam on the planet. Even during the soviet times Russia never regulated culture. It is an out and out lie that they did.
