    I actually meant technological, mostly because human development is too complex to measure.

    How has suffering developed us technologically? Do you mean that because of suffering, we make new technology to protect us from that suffering from occurring again? (ex. Medicine)

    Exactly. Suffering does not directly produce technological development(except in evolution) but indirectly in the form of a need to stop it. If there is a need, there is a way.(in most cases)
