    Yeah... Unlike the United Provinces in the game, we didn't have presidents, elections, and all that sort of fun stuff that a modern day republic has. But as far as I know, Total War games never were really accurate when it came to that sort of things.

    I don't get how the Batavian Republic starts before the Grand Campaign. Napoleon created it, right?

    No, according to Wikipedia the Batavian Republic succeded the UP in 1795 and ended in 1806 when Louis Bonaparte became king of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

    Funny. Didn't know he wasn't the Emperor by then.

    Looking at Wikipedia, I like how his son (Louis II) was the King for just 8 days until they got thrown out, and Napoleon took control himself.
