Hopefully the transitional regime will give way to peacefully run elections and will peacefully transition to the government that is elected. I'm not really optimistic that this will happen, As when Mubarak first came to power he promised to only serve for 2 or 3 terms. 30 years later he get's essentially overthrown in a revolution of sorts.

The problem is there isn't a leading faction in Egypt that started all of this, so there is somewhat of a power vacuum that traditionally (especially in Middle Eastern Politics) is filled by the guy with the most guns...

I agree with you I dont like the idea of a war and would like for them to settle things peacefully but if that doesn't happen I hope that the people stand up and rise against those who stop them

This Egyptian revolution is a perfect example of what a nationalistically fueled people can do against a corrupt government. I'm very glad it happened.

I just hope they don't end up with another corrupt leader and they have to do this all over again.

Mubarak was right to say that Egypt wasn't ready for true democracy, even if he only said it to stay in power a little longer. The people should have settled for his campaign ending in September. If he wasn't gone in September, though, the people should've rallied again. And that time he wouldn't be able to get away with it, as he contradicted himself in front of the world community.

Now the Military is in control, and power can only go to Chief of the Armed Forces Tantawi, the Muslim Brotherhood, or Muhammad ElBaradei. That's a 2/3 chance of Egypt going to hell, and that's assuming democracy actually works. And last I heard, ElBaradei doesn't have popular support since the Egyptians don't want another U.S. lackey in charge.

It's entirely possible and likely that the military (possibly under Tantawi, possibly under someone else) will just seize permanent control.
