Ive dug up some more on this.

    Dad's side:
Some of my mothers ancestors descend from Scandanavians who fought in the Thirty Years War and the Great Northern War. Some of my very great granfathers and uncles decided to settle down in the newly counquered land near Denmark. There some of their descendents immigrated through The Holy Roman Empire where one of the daughters married a count who was related to the Hapsburgs. There they made a bigger family which would have some relatives fighting for Austria. My great grandfather fought for austria in WW1 and died fighting Croatians in the Ovche Pole Offensive. My great grandmother left Austria after the Hapsburgs were disposed by the allies. Then my grandmother married an englishman who gave us the pritchard name. He died of cancer when I was a toddler and she remarried to a man from the pequot tribe.

    Grandmothers side:
My mothers side comes from the british isles from the Camille and Macleod clan who owned a castle and a special "fairy flag" which you can read about here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy_Flag they had a young gent move to Spain where he married a Spanish Italian women. Their daughter moved to spain where she married a wealthy greek landlord who then moved them to the united states in the 1800's. Nothing really special other then than that.

My family came over with william the conqueror and where given lands up north in england... and we eventually lost it all thanks to one of my ancestors siding with King Charles during the civil war rather than parliament... Other than that most of our past is almost unknown xD

I know one of my ancestors fought with the east india trading company and was an ex-major in the british army at the time... My grandad on my mothers side was in WW2 in palastine and my Grandad on my dads side was in Korea during the Korean war...

So yeah thats all i know about my family history... pretty boring compared to some peoples ive read on here though xD

The English soldiers stationed at the time were called Black and Tans for there uniform they were known for terrorizing areas for example when they found out about the train they were going to burn my great great grandfathers house until a priest turned up to tell them that he was very ill.My great great granduncles were never caught

The black and tans where actually scotish soldiers just as a point xD They where scotish soldiers mainly from glasgow and most of them hated the irish slightly more than the english. And yes they where the worst of the soldiers stationed in ireland. They where there since about 1900 and they had a reputation... i know the IRA killed one of there guys so they burnt the village the guy was from to the gound, shot his kids and wife and when he gave himself up they hung him from a tree with piano wire...

Needless to say they where disbanded around 1960 i believe (correct if wrong xD) but none of the soldiers where ever arrested and most went on to join or train the paratroopers and i know at least 3 are currently SAS advisers/trainers... so yeah...

But im glad he didnt get killed by them, as much as i dislike the IRA i dislike the black and tans even more xD... they just supported what everyone was saying...

Really? Isnt that the "official" story... because im sure there where black and tans in ireland during the 50s and 60s... although maybe they where exblack and tan... hmm ill have to go away and read xD

Etherway, the main reason is the bloody sunday masacare... thats the main reason... stupid paras..although people shouldnt have thrown rocks at them. Dont get me wrong the shooting was unnecissary and totally wrong. But at the same time you dont throw rocks at the paras. They're one step away from the SAS in the mentallity route and no one would ever throw anything at the SAS...

That was a march for human rights as nationlists were discrimanated against heavily so they did peacefull protests and the British soldiers shoot at them and then planted weapons on the dead

Im not denying the shooting at them and im not denying the aim. But there is evidence, even from the protesters that people did throw rocks at the british troops at the barrackade. They didnt realise the paras where there. Etherway a few youths did throw rocks and then a few others follwed. Finally the paras where told to ARREST the trouble makers. But then they shot people and both the peace march and the rock throwing where canceled out.

Dont get me wrong i strongly disagree with the shooting and the treatment of the irish. Im english and patriotic but i know whats wrong. But dont forget that theres always a cause to the reaction. And the rock throwing did start it. But yes the shooting was horrible and horrifically wrong. Even the SAS wouldnt have shot at them. (Just thought id point that out xD)

My Great Grandpappy fought with the Big Red One from Africa all the way to Germany. He told me of this one time where his platoon was supposed to ambush a halftrack convoy on the retreat from Aachen (I think it was Aachen anyway....) apparently he took out a half track crew by himself with a grenade and some good timing and aim.
