    Well whatever Martin did previously, he didn't deserve to die in that incident. Kennedy is more dubious than we give him credit for, but probably not to a particularly alarming extent. In any case, being killed did spare him any kind of later decline or scandal. But it's hardly a smokescreen for wrongdoing.

    Like I said, if Kennedy had done something wrong to the extent of rigging a vote, we would know about it. Regardless of him getting shot or not, that is serious enough to be reported on extensively no matter what public opinion of him was or is.
