Shouldn't there be some quote by Dr Cox to enlighten me. He has been good at that in the past.

Well they probably could learn it if they wanted to, but it just doesn't interest them. People are bad at geography everywhere, but most learn something when they are on vacation or deciding where they want to go on a vacation, while Americans mainly go on vacation inside US borders.

This is a hard one. You can tell this to the people who think you are Russian/Swis

My sister went to Wisconsin for a year and travelled from coast to coast after, and when she told them where she came from, most of them didn't even know that there was a country called Denmark.

So you stereotype an entire nation because of Wisconsin. Wisconsin? Wisconsin?

She went from coast to coast... And from my own experience in games, on the internet etc.
I'm not stereotyping. What I'm saying is that 80% of Americans wouldn't be able to point out Denmark on a map... A stereotype would be saying that Americans are fat.

It's still stereotyping if you do not have facts. But I believe you because I would say that 70% of those I met there didn't know that Sweden existed (at least those I met).

Believe it or not....there is a stereotype that Americans are dumb. I know shocking right? No, most people in my Social Studies class know where Denmark is. Do you have factual evidence to support that 80% of Americans can't point Denmark out on a map? Almost 80% of my class CAN point Denmark out on a map.

Are you insinuating that I think Americans are dumb?
No, there isn't a lot of research about Americans knowledge on Denmark and it's geography...
There's a difference between your class and the average American. While I might use a somewhat small "test group" of something like 300 people, you are even worse.

No, not really considering my class is full of idiots.
Yes, because you have implied it.
    Exactly.

I don't really want to continue this, but to be clear, I don't think Americans are dumb, I just think many Americans couldn't care less about geography, as they'll probably never need it. There are several forms of intelligence, and just because you're good at geography doesn't mean that you're intelligent.

I found this the most interesting. For some reason it reminded me of the book Fahrenheit 451.
