Surely making someone wear certain things is a breach to thier rights as well

It is not forced in France like it is in say Saudi Arabia.... so it should be their choice.

I think in Somolia you can get away with raping just about anyone you want.

It's an anarchic society, you can do whatever you want. Kill anyone you want, as long as you are able to defend yourself against anyone that might want to kill you later.

Not if if they wear it of free will, they are not being "forced" technically. Besides, aren't most people forced to wear clothes in public? I certainly haven't seen anyone nude in a city yet...

What i meant by that comment is surely the french goverment forcing people to not wear certain iteams a breach of their rights . Their is a reason why people dont go nude in the streets but for france their are basing their actions on the thought that hijab would be used for criminal activity.

Along their line of logic, a hat and sunglasses should be illegal.

Here in Belgium a similar law is waiting to be passed, and last time I checked most parties were in favor of passing the law. Now this law would ban all face covering clothing, so this would also include things like balaclavas.
Therefore the argument can be made that this law does not specifically targets muslims but is necessary in the intrest of security and because police need to be able to compare your face to your passport picture or should be able to see your face and see if you arent wanted or something.

Nevertheless you can't deny the influence of anti-islam parties such as the PVV in the Netherlands and Vlaams Belang here in Belgium to name a few, on these laws which are being proposed all over Europe. These parties view Islam as an inherently undemocratic force and antithetical with many of the freedoms we have in our Western society. And sadly are gaining more and more voters by actions that generally amount to nothing less than racism, fear mongering and proclaiming that every muslim is part of a grand conspiracy to impose sharia law in every western country.

Yes lets blame only the french... even though it is banned in many other Muslim nations such as Syria and Turkey, where is the hate for them? I disagree that we should ban them but please look at the wider world, it not just us being intolerant of the minority groups who wish to wear them.
