I have stated that I don't give a fuck once on thsi thread. If you can source another thread where I have said it then please do. And I don't really have an appearance to protect, unlike yourself.
Here's one for you believers in ghosts/spirits: Say a person lived in a house somewhere, and one day said person is dead. Now some of you believe that the soul/spirit/ghost of said person now haunts said house. What would happen to that soul/spirit/ghost/thingy, if someone decided to just bulldoze the place? Would the soul remain on that now random piece of land? Would the soul merge with the bulldozer? Maybe haunt it for a little while? Or maybe the guy (or girl) who was driving the bulldozer? Maybe he/she would be haunted? TLDR: Soul haunts house, house bulldozed, what happens to soul?
Come on we have like 5 threads going right now to argue about religion there's no need to drag it into this thread too.
And how exactly do you separate the two? What rational basis is there to believe in the existence of ghosts or 'spiritual entities'?
Well I personally don't believe in either of these so I don't make a distinction between them. I was just saying that nobody brought up a religious aspect until you did a few minutes ago.
Fair enough, but souls aren't strictly religious and nobody mentioned religion when talking about them.
You'd just have to be retarded. No, but seriously, both the idea of a 'soul' and spirituality are religious. Something does not have to be affiliated with organized religion to fall under the scope of religion.
Where do you think these concepts come from? Religion is not limited to established religious organizations or beliefs. Religion is the general inquiry into and belief in the 'divine' or 'supernatural'.
No it's a system of beliefs. It's organized and structured. It's much more like organization of sorts. That's why people who don't have a religion can believe in divine and supernatural things and why some people who do have a religion don't believe in divine or spiritual things. It's not black and white.
That's ideology. That's organized religion. Religious beliefs do not require membership in a religious organization. That's cognitive dissonance. It's very black and white.
But if you have certain beliefs then people are typically going to slide you into a certain religion. Making you a part of some sort of religion. You don't have to go to church to be a Christan. No it's not, most Buddhists don't belief in any god and have very few spiritual beliefs but their still a religion.
Ignorant heuristics and blatant apathy have no place in this discussion. Maybe. His facebook page doesn't say anything about his religious preferences. For one, Buddhists do believe in gods. They believe in pretty much all of them, in fact. They just don't worship them. However, Buddhism illustrates the breadth of the term religion. 'Supernatural' beliefs are religious beliefs.
What the hell are you talking about? If someone believes in Christan beliefs then they are a Christan by all definitions, whether they like it or not. You don't have to be a "member" That's just the reality of situation. No they don't. There is no Buddhists teaching that even talks about any God as far as I am aware.
