That is something I would buy if it worked for me, putting a giant spider with everything in perfect graphics and rendering infront me, as the damn thing wants to kill me, is not the best way of overcoming fears, I would rather another way, say exposure to one in real life would be fine, understanding them etc....but I swear to god if you saw one in real life that size, that would not help my fears
What are you even saying? They have giant spiders cause it makes for a good enemy, who cares if it's 'original' or not, the spiders don't play a bigger role in the game then err bandits. And really most people who are afraid of spiders are alright with them in a game.
I wan't to fight somthing else than i giant spider. How about a giant fruit fly or a cockroach or wait... a giant manite (those green things with the blades on theire arms.)
I apologise if I made it sound harsch, I meant the last part as a joke, I figured it was just a writing error but I had to point it out
Indeed, you being the biggest sissy alive should definitely ruin the entire game for you. Nobody else cares. Maybe they should take rat's out. I mean rats scare some people. OH MAN they should definitely take daedra out, some religious nut might lose their shit on demon nonsense. There really is no reason for them to cater to nonsense like this.
There is a huge difference though, it doesnt only effect me, do some research on it and you will find out that the Skyrim spiders deal have become a huge problem for many people. Once again not only me. Never said I dont play the game, just that I find it difficult to play for those reasons. There is a huge difference though between rats and daedra to spiders that is undeniable, but mainly my whole point in all of this comes down to this sentence; is Skyrim meant to be a scary game? Is it meant to scare archaniphobs with giant spiders, is it meant to scare people with giant rats and deadra as you described? I never asked them to cater for me specifically, but you cant ignore the facts. As the saying goes "Dont try and please all the people all the time." But that doesnt change the fact that putting spiders in every RPG is absurd. Trust me a game dev realizes that people are afraid of them, so why do they include it? Finally though, call me a pussy or what not that doesnt make a difference this is my fear. Im curious what is yours Mr. Invincible eh?
The argument that arachniphobia can affect the sales of the game is as ligitimate as to the wide-spread and degree to which the phobia goes. If a large portion of the gaming community had the fear to such a great extent that they would hesitate to buy and play the game, then the company, no matter what their own opinions of it are, would have to cater to those who do not want spiders in their game.
I'm afraid of heights. I also don't give a damn as I was climbing the throat of the world as it's a VIDEO GAAAME. VIIIIDDEEEEOOOOO GAAAAMMMEEEE. I guess it's true and some people just can't draw the line between reality and virtual reality. Also if you are afraid it's probably a good thing for immersion, I mean if I could feel that close to the game I'd see it as a blessing. Oh, and there is no difference between rats and spiders. What if someone had a true hardcore phobia of rats? FUCK THEM MAN people should only cater to me my fear has more legs.
I don't think that he said anywhere that other fears are not ligitimate... he was just bringing attention to the use of spiders in particular.
Thank you someone who understands what I am saying.... LampRevolt If you read what I wrote earlier it is the realism of video games today that make me scared of them, for example the spiders in minecraft are not the same as the ones in Skyrim. Therefore those two are treated differently. Would you play assassins creed because of your fear of heights? Thats the point though, video games today are becoming alot more realistic than any other medium of media, they draw you in for hours as you said. The key to all of this is that phobias are not logical/irrational, thats what makes a spider in a game scarier than one in real life.
Don't look in the corner of your room, oh and watch where you step.... Now your paranoid, i can tell. LOL
Yes I would play assassins creed, it's almost as if I myself am not jumping off a tower. Oh and Imperial he did say rats are completely different, so therefore he implied that people who were afraid of giant rats were not as important as people who are afraid of giant spiders. Nothing should change due to your irrational fears.
Shoot there is a friendly spider in the game in the dark brotherhood sanctuary and I thought it was really cool. Walked right up to it and everything.
You know that there's a Skyrim mod out that makes all the giant spiders into bears? It looks ridiculous, but if you're really that scared of spiders...
