Why don't you just make the IRA the leaders of Ireland or the PLO the leaders of Palestine?

I don't know enough about the subject to really say what would be best for the people over there, but I would say that I can't see it being in anyone's but the talibans political interests so it's not going to happen.

Demagoguery and populist rhetoric will sound the same across the board.

Stalin was an isolationist, and an anti-imperialist. You only get that kind of heartless, bullshit rhetoric from Right-wing Americans.

He also brought about the death of tens of thousands of Polish people.

    So that's like, +3 Stalin.

Those Polish people had it coming and don't let any imperialist propaganda tell you otherwise.

I reckon a fairly weak sort of democracy would be a good idea; obviously it's gone out of fashion since the Weimar Republic, but Afghanistan has suffered primarily because of inneffectual strongmen, from the naive Parcham to the brutal Kalq and the reactionary Taliban. I'd like to see them be forced to overcome tribal divisions and such by being forced to establish coalition governments. It's what Afghanistan was headed for (sort of) before Daoud overthrew the monarchy back in 1973, before the communists had any influence and before the Mujahideen even existed.

Huh, at least they don't kidnap Israeli athletes or hijack cruises nowadays. I think. Are they still Anti-Zionist?

Unless he is the King of the Rus of course.

Ms Ahmadi was a teenager when she saw Taliban troops round up men from the northern Afghanistan city of Mazar-e-Sharif, tie their hands and feet and use pick-up trucks to tear them apart. That ghastly image has never left her."
Remember there wasn't much schools nor hospitals either.

I was under the impression the Germans represented a refreshing change from the Russian hordes. Either way, that Polish guy who said the biggest difference (for Poland presumably) was the size of the dictator's mustache (ie- Stalin or Hitler) was probably right.

Right, now it's just the Americans/NATO who do that. But say shout 'DEMOCRACY' while we are doing it, so it's all good.
