This is what I have been trying to say!
I somewhat agree, but it may be hard for him to go through Scipio first.

just a little off topic- crassus is a douche. he got power hungry and died in the attempt. so i laugh at his dead body.[/quote:3sh8j9y1]

I find his death to be so funny and the fact he got gold poured down his throat made me laugh. tough his death did destroy the unity between Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus and thus cause Caesar and Pompey to go to war, which Pompey blew alot of chances to win, and Caesar's men where far more loyal (except on the idles of march)

Tough had Caesar lived and continued on is a one of the greatest historical questions, tough i think a better one is what if Pompey the great had defeated Caesar.

How come it's just "Caesar" and not "Caesar the great" or "Caesar the Mighty" or such?

i vot to rename him "Caesar the Man!!!"

After Cannae Rome would have probably taken ANY FORM OF TREATY. Yet for some reason Hannibal, although knowing he did no have the manpower to attack Rome, never even gave bringing Rome to her knees with a treaty that would cripple them to the point where they could never rise again.

Belisarius. Not only did he manage to retake Italy and North Africa for the Roman Empire, but he did it with virtually no assistance from the emperor.

The Romans were basically Greek in a way. Aeneas is from the city of Troy allegedly. He was the ancestor of Romulus and Remus allegedly. I'm not saying this is true but it is most likely.

The Romans are kind of like a more warlike continuation of the Greeks the next peninsula over...

Well, they were the only surviving part of the empire at the time, so Romans will suffice. There's a reason why Belisarius is known as the Last Roman General.

Yes, that's when it all started to go wrong.

I guess, but didn't they rule it as a puppet state of the Ostrigoths?

There was some kind of Romanised barbarian government which ruled Italy from Ravenna on behalf of Justinian. Not 100% on the details.
