Brazilian culture is very different in the north and the south, the Northern part of Brazil is what I think most people see on TV and whatnot, it's a more African derived one, the southern part is a more European derived culture, since it was the southern part that received the huge influx of imigration, most being Portuguese, Spanish and europeans. I live in the southern part, so it isn't too much different from let's say a normal European country like Portugal, but the difference between here an Europe is the political part, where the corruptions know no bounds and of course the poverty that is caused by ourselves.

But let's get back on topic, General Caxias was I think our best commander ever.

I still think Atilla was better than Genhis Khan.

Did Genghis Khan ever lose a battle guys? I know that Attila lost some, but I don't know about Genghis.

Genghis lost a couple as well, but mainly against other Mongols.

Really i thought he never lost (i one of the like five or so who never lost) well he did take the weakest of the Mongol tribes and used to conqure the rest of the Mongals and then focused on the world, heck his armies left litterly mountians of skulls in there wake, they spread the black plague to europe (biological warfare at its best)[/quote:1bgq9br9]
No he wasn't that good. And for a lot of the conquest, especially by the time the conquest of Europe started, he was running his nation from the capital. Kublai Khan was the most epic though!

I just wish that there was a next in line after he died because then all of Europe would be under the mongol boot (or horse really)[/quote:1lhd7c1x]
    The mongol horse saddle.
    And yes I agree.

I noticed that a lot of posts were deleted.

Btw, I always knew that Kublai was the most baddass mongol general, but he did already have a huge empire at his hands.

Well, Alexander didn't really start with a big empire, only a very good army, I do agree about Frederick though, but he does have some credit for defeating the Austrians, Russians and French all by himself (well, kind of since France was focusing in the New World).

Anyone that has a medium knowledge about Rome knows about Scipio Africanus, my guess at an underestimated military leader would be Frederick Barbarossa (you know, the one that never reached Jerusalem)

Yes he died while swimming after spending days with his armour in the heating desert, so he had a reason to die in water.

I believe he drowned when crossing a river not swimming. He had a Heartattack or something like that I believe and fell off his horse and died. Sad that he did. He was my ancestor :(

From what i heard he made the other two crusader kings (Richard the lion heart and Louis something) look like panzes with his fighting skills, i wonder how the crusades would have played out had he lived.

Yeah your right im looking into right now he apparently went to go cross the Calycadmus o River, which everyone told him not to and of course he died. His death just destroyed the crusade and many Germans committed suicide abon the news.

He did fall off his horse I believe. My sources are this one book which I found at the library another source says that either one is correct. http://militaryhistory.about.com/od/arm ... arossa.htm
