So you are from the Czech Republic I guess. You should put that in your description. So I want to ask you a question. What is your opinion on Slovakia? It's my family's ancestral home.

Its going to have to be ho chi min. he managed to stop the huge evil superpower that is America by fantastic thinking and a new sort of war. he never lived to see the end of the war but if he had never come to power the war would have been won by the U.S.

    HO HO HO CHI MAN

Guerrilla warfare wasn't new. It's been used since the beginning of warfare. Even the Romans had to suffer from it.

No it was never used to that existent. the Taliban in Afghanistan read huge books on the Vietcong because it was a new kind of guerilla warfare.

According to our good friends, the Chinese general Sun Tzu was the one writing the book 'The Art of War', which first explained guerrilla warfare, which looks very much like today's guerrilla warfare.

Well, Ho Chi Minh did a decent job of it regardless, so there was probably some originality in there somewhere. Bit like how you could say the Taliban/Al-Qaeda are practicing the same old guerilla warfare; blending in with the populace, hit and run tactics, etc. But at the same time, they've done plenty of things that haven't been seen before, or at least they've developed other people's ideas (ie- IEDs, terrorist training camps, the internet, funding, etc)

It was never a war between the US and Vietnam......Police Action. Guerrilla War has been around since well forever. Spain used it in the Peninsular Campaign. Actually Guerilla is a German word meaning "a person who engages in irregular warfare especially as a member of an independent unit carrying out harassment and sabotage". Spanish guerrilla, from diminutive of guerra war, of Germanic origin; akin to Old High German werra strife — more at war

I always thought that guerrilla was a Spanish word.
