Man I can't think of the historian I listened to (I'd have to go to the library) , but he told me were prepared to make peace by giving Southern Italy, Corsica, Sciliy, and Sardinia.
The Romans were never masters of the seas. Carthage easily sailed to Italy and back. For one, the Carthaginian Senate did send some men to Northern Italy with siege equipment but they were cut down like I said before. Carthage never lost their naval abilities.

EDIT: Why didn't you capitalize Cannae?

1.) id trust polybius over some random historian.

2.) the Romans never lost a major naval encounter in the first punic war. Their navy was destroyed twice by the weather but they never lost a major sea battle to Carthage (maybe one in the first war). In fact it was a massive Carthaginian naval defeat that prompted them to sue for peace in the first war. In the second war, Carthage had few naval bases in the Mediterranean due to the Romans controlling Sicily Sardinia and Corsica, in a time when ships needed to rebadge every few days at the most. That was the whole reason that only on one or two occasions, they managed to get men and supplies to Hannibal. That and the Carthaginian nobility didn't seem to care.

Then how could they have possibly allowed the Roman army to land on their shores? Coupled with a Carthaginian blockade, the Romans would've been forced to face Hannibal on the field, where they might've been defeated.

I wouldn't say that. Polybius most likely had a Roman bias, unlike a "random historian", who, while having the disadvantage of not having been there personally, probably had a more neutral view on the entire issue.

The Romans also raided the Carthaginian shore and transports men and supplies to Spain, constantly theoughout the war.

They were masters of the sea in the same sense as the Union was in the Civil War. The Romans prevented most Carthaginian naval forces from doing much.

It's annoying. There's a delay from when you type to when ur actually recognizes what you pressed leading to mistakes.

Why would you do that? Also, "the Android" sounds a bit...weird, seeing as Android is the operating system, and not the apparatus itself.
