There is an interactive map on cnn.com where you can see all those in the coalition who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq.

My uncle is in the Navy, captain of a ship. He's currently in Kuwait managing logistics.

Grandfather was in the Navy as well, though he was a pilot. Fought in the Korean War.

Most of my great uncles served in WWII. My grandfather was in the Air Force (then still part of the army) during WWII. Currently have a cousin in the Air Force.

I don't see what the problem is - every other country remembers the fallen soldiers of great wars, why when someone posts an American memorial occasion does someone think it is a crime.

Though I am not American, my grandfather, great grandfather and so on fought alongside Americans in the great wars, so I frankly don't see why anybody would have a problem with this thread, remember your soldiers, I certainly do (on the day us Britons do)

I don't really have a problem with it, it's your business. I just find it a little icky and not something to celebrate.
Specially since your country hasn't fought an honourable war ever since WWII.

I'll go away now before I accidentally take a proverbial shit on your dead grandfather's grave and insult you any further or whatever.

Memorial day is to honored soldiers who died, not the wars they fought in.
