I never considered none of the so called "Golden Times" very golden. Only nostalgic dumbsterheads call them that. But then theres these kids say, "I sure would have wanted to live in the 90s and play Super-Nintendo etc etc." Its all WHAT IFs, which really boils me over.

No. Games have certainly changed but there have been amazing games in every generation. Back then you had stuff like Mario, the first Mortal Kombat games and early PC games like Fallout, Half Life, Diablo 1 & 2 as just a few examples. Now you have amazing large titles like Crusader Kings 2 and indie gems like motherfucking Dwarf Fortress. Sure you may have CoD number 234 and stuff becoming DRM infested or being turned into online only or MMOs that charge you every month, which does annoy me. Also gimmicks being pushed as the future of gaming. Still I think we've got a lot to enjoy now and a lot to look forward to. If all you see are crappy games you need to look past the huge companies and see that many great games are being made.

i think alot of games today are more fixated on visual fx than story, just like the transformers movies.

Honestly there are companies that just want your cash (EG: Infinity ward and EA)
Then there are the companis that have made games that are timeless classics people fondly remember and still playing and some are still producing great games. (EG: Bioware, Gearbox and Bethesda) so no the golden age of gaming is not gone but maybe just started.

    who voted twice!!!!!

Back on topic, no, altohugh games have started to get simplified for mainstream audiences and max profit, other games have gotten more complicated and better with modernn technology (paradox games and the such). Really, i think it depends on what types of games one prefers, I have to admit id like to see some of that simplification and dumbing down of some series stop, like Mafia 1 to Mafia 2, or even Skyrim (although they managed to do it in a good way, keeping al the stuff for those who read every book in the game and such while still keeping it fun for those who jsut want to fight a dragon and chop an orcs head of).

Golden age of gaming has not yet come. old school games had many things, that are superior to modern trend, but that goes both ways. The most sad part of modern gaming industry is that 4X games are dead.

No, because BW and SC2 both came out in the 21st century.

Well there are always great and bad games in every generation. But as othrs stated it's becoming more profit based than before.
Technological progress is now on light speed with motinion controls and 3-D ish gaming in it's baby steps.
