    But what would all those poor former politicians do when the UN jobs, overpriced speeches and royalties from autobiographies dry up?

    The house of lords shouldn't be an elected group, it shoul be the appoints system it has benn in the past. I will say there are positions such as the members who represent the church which should be removed; yet to have people vote in a house where a change of people may lead to change to of party to party who tries to undo the others work, it's more harm to the people than good.
