And it was ok I guess. *awaits the mass amount of hate mail I will get for not thinking portal is the greatest most amazing thing on the planet.*
Same the physics was not quite right and halfway into the game it becomes "find the white wall game" instead of puzzles. The boss battle was much easier than the other challenges like in the first game. However the comedy is just as good as the first if not better actually. To me it felt like a console port.
It seemed they were desperately trying to re-create a meme to match that of "the cake is a lie". Apart from that I still enjoyed it.
Gameplay was the same as last time, except with less momentum puzzles. It kind of failed to have that "put it all mechanics together puzzles", why is there not a single puzzle with excursion funnels, hard light bridges, all of the gels, buttons, cubes, turrets and lasers? On the plus side, the writing was amazing, Valve could make movies....in space...with combustible lemons... Definitely not the best game ever, but probably in the top 100.
They changed a few things from from the original, but I really enjoyed it. I think it stronger with a better comedic story than its actual game story.
I agree with you on the gameplay side of things, but the story was top notch. The way the characters developed and how you became attached to them [spoiler:1lsr2v8j]I wanted to pull Wheatly back, as he is one of my favourite characters[/spoiler:1lsr2v8j] Hopefully dlc and custom chambers will put the challenge back into it. Less of a game, more of an interactive book. Portal 1 was innovative, even if you didn't like it, it was different. Portal 2 was never going to be as good. edit:  If you think that valve games are made for console first then pc, you don't know valve Edit 2: Hurrah for quoting and editing! Having listened through the dev commentary, and bought 'the last hours of portal 2' (I find the process of game-making intriguing), the writers didn't want to make memes, as the got fed up of it after 3 years. The whole [spoiler:1lsr2v8j]SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE[/spoiler:1lsr2v8j] thing was formed through the staff getting hooked on this
The thing is Portal 1 was such an uncut gem that anything that tried to follow it up was bound to be refined in someway.
I loved it. I'm a Portal Fan boy I guess. Sure it wasn't the best game of all time ever in the history of the Universe, but it was pretty good. It kept true to Portal 1, that's a lot more than most sequals can say. The characters all seemed very real and believable. Also, this
